You should be more careful...
This is actually too funny for words. Apparently there are about a thousand machines "looking" at Gene's Machine, specifically where the forums used to be. Why? Think about it - it looks as though some trusting schmoo (or schmoos, plural) set up his/their botnet(s) to key on Gene's Machine's forums. Bad idea. Really bad idea. You never know when the owner is going to just traipse in and destroy everything. Without a backup, even.
Also, there appeared to be some sort of cipher or cipher-like development going on - I wonder what that was all about? No matter, really, as it's all gone irrevocably. But still, it might have been nice to see what they were up to. No doubt this is why I've got over 800 hits a day, all turned away by the CAPTCHA system emplaced at the [Register] button. So far, only two rogue entries have made it through, but were deleted because *I* didn't recognize them.
That's the catch, here at Gene's Machine. I am not running a "Public BBS" or "Bar and Tavern" for cyber-stragglers. This is a meeting place for my people, and nobody else. Gamers, some coders, and not a few pundits find themselves welcome here. All others either prove your worth or go find somebody like CyberTuna who are willing to put up with your drama in the name of inclusividity. I'm not that guy.
It's not just paranoia at work here, people. The forums were compromised for quite some time before I knew what was going on - kudos to "them" (whoever they are) for keeping their perfidy under wraps for so long. But if that isn't proof of their nefarious intent, what is? I'd like to think that I'm running a quality establishment, here. At present, I allow only a few people through the doors - people that I know - and the rest get to window-shop only that which I allow in the windows. I never intended to run a pr0n shop, especially without getting paid for it - and there was never a "Botnets Welcome" sign put up, so I don't know where they even got the idea.
So there you have it. If you are reading this, you're one of the "in" crowd. Nobody else even knows this exists, along with a great many other things that I have chosen not to reveal to the outside cyberverse. Not that it's all that important or worth anything at all - just that there is a difference. Congratulations.
Now don't you have a game to get to?
