:bigsmile: It's been quite a long time since we've ventured forth with "name-level" characters in the hopes of making a name for ourselves --- the last time we successfully mounted such a campaign was back in the late 80's in AD&D version 1! But here we are again, venturing forth under Pathfinder rules (operating heavily in the shadows of AD&D version 1 for guidance and quality assurance) to see if we can make it happen again.

Keep your eyes open, there will most assuredly be updates on this page as they occur --- this promises to be FUN!

The GREAT thing about Gene's Machine is that it's run for a select group of people, and I really don't need to open it up (like some wanton business) to the general public if I don't feel like it. Ills of the Internet, I guess, but due to the amazing amount of SPAM login requests I was receiving, I decided to employ a CAPTCHA "front gate" watcher, which worked for some time. It was annoying, I know, but it was functional, and that's all that I needed. About a month ago, some robo-idiot out there decided that they absolutely needed to join Gene's Machine - and for whatever reason began the SPAMMING yet again. So I updated the CAPTCHA, to little avail. It now cuts out some 70% of the bogus login registrations, but not all - some of them kept "leaking" into my InBox. Fair enough - I just DISABLED user-generated logins, and NOW if you want to join Gene's Machine, you had better find a way to eMail me and identify yourself.

Ever have one of those "Aha!" moments wake you up, and keep you up, especially when you'd rather be catching up on your sleep? It just happened right now, and until I get this "out" I may never sleep peacefully again.

 In case you didn't notice, Gene's Machine has Forums (the word is 'Fora', actually) again!

  Okay, today we had a power outage that (naturally) caused the MineCraft server to outrun the UPS and die.  As it expired without shutting down properly,

Gene's Machine has once again emerged from operations behind the HostMonster Parking page. All traces of prior experiments have been eradicated; none of the previous code exists on this server. This is a fresh install, a fresh system, and a fresh outlook.
